Welcome to
my first blog! Setting up the blog has
been relatively simple so far. I already had a Google account set up and
have used Google hangouts to chat with classmates in the past. It is a
program similar to Skype that allows members to direct chat or even video call.
Having the experience with the program has helped me make a smooth
transition into the BlogSpot set up. I
am unfamiliar with the different possibilities that the program offers but I am
looking forward to playing around with it to see what type of functions are
available.
Currently in
the EDTC 620 course we are discussing the positive and negative attributes to PowerPoint
presentations. I wonder which “side of
the fence” you are on. If you are not a PowerPoint
user, what program do you usually use instead?
Hi Ryan,
ReplyDeleteYou have a great blog set up! I remember the PowerPoint discussion in 620! I think that it's a good tool when it's used effectively. I also like to use an online presentation tool that allows you to move through the presentation at your own pace. I can not remember the name of it at the moment but as soon as I do I will post it!

Great, let me know when you think of it. It's been a fun discussion so far, its amazing to see how the opinions vary on the topic.
DeleteRyan,
DeleteI remembered the website. I used Prezi Presentations to walk through some of my back to school procedures.

Hi Ryan,
ReplyDeleteI am taking EDTC 620 too. I have really enjoyed reading the discussion that has been occurring in regards to which "side" everyone is on in regards to power point. Personally, I feel if it is used to aid the teacher through out the lesson than I think it is a great tool to use. If the teacher uses power point as a way to teach the entire class, then I feel that it is not worth using. Thanks for getting the conversation started.

Michele, I do agree with you that if it is used effectively than it can great tool. I too use it for my classes and love to play PowerPoint game with some of the elementary aged kids I teach. I also think the program hasn't evolved much since it first came out and hope they would add some new features.
DeleteHi Ryan!!! Yah for you blending our two classes together. I think there are more than a few us that are in both! This will be a great way to cross blend some experiences!! awesome!!
ReplyDeleteps..please eat some great kimchi for me!! Really miss it!!
Will do, I have a few different types of kimchi in my fridge now. I can't say that I have learned to smell but the taste has really grown on me! :)
DeleteHi Ryan,
ReplyDeleteI too am in the 620 class and I really enjoyed the conversations and the PPT presentations. They were fun to watch. I believe that used correctly PPT can be fun and informative in class. I was thinking while making my presentation how it could be used to engage in conversation in the classroom.
I like your theme as well as title.
